22-Member Ansar-VDP Delegation Sets Out for Umrah

A 22-member delegation of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) has officially begun its journey to perform Umrah.

At a programme held at the force’s headquarters on Tuesday (November 3), the selected members were handed their visas, air tickets and gifts.

The Director General of the force, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, attended the programme as the chief guest. He handed over the documents and gifts to the 22 pilgrims, including three officers and 19 members. He wished them a safe journey and good health.

Speaking at the programme, the Director General said youth was the ideal time to perform Hajj and Umrah. Religious practice and spiritual purification early in life enrich people morally. Noting that reforming mindsets was the foundation of all reforms, he urged everyone to uphold a positive outlook, ethics and human values in their personal lives and professional duties.

He said the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party was a disciplined, people-oriented and welfare-focused organisation. He hoped the lessons and values gained from performing Umrah would be reflected in the members’ personal lives as well as in the discharge of their professional responsibilities.

Addressing the pilgrims, the Director General advised them to maintain discipline during the journey, cooperate with one another and remain alert about their personal safety. He particularly urged them to look after elderly and sick fellow pilgrims and follow all travel-related instructions properly. He also called on them to pray for the peace, prosperity and welfare of the country, its people and the force while in the holy land.

The force’s Additional Director General, Brigadier General Mamunur Rashid, and other senior officials were also present at the programme.
