Two films from Bangladesh, ‘Roid’, directed by Mezbaur Rahman Sumon, and ‘Delupi’, directed by Mohammad Tawquir Islam, have won awards at the Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain. The films received honours in two separate categories of the festival.

‘Roid’ won the Best Film award in the Official Selection category. Meanwhile, ‘Delupi’ received a Special Mention in the Other Narratives category. The recognition marks another notable achievement for Bangladeshi cinema on the international stage.

‘Roid’ has previously enjoyed success at international film festivals. It won three awards at the Mosaic International Film Festival in Canada in the Best Actress, Best Cinematography and Best Music categories. The film has also been selected to represent Bangladesh at the 99th Academy Awards, scheduled to take place next year.
