Dozens of US Fighter Jets and Drones Destroyed, Over a Hundred Buildings Damaged in Iranian Attacks

•  Damage Picture Revealed in Pentagon Report:

The Pentagon’s top oversight body has revealed a startling picture of major US military and diplomatic losses from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and Iranian attacks. The Pentagon watchdog report, released on Monday, states that between February 28 and June 30, dozens of fighter jets and military drones were destroyed and over a hundred buildings and installations used by US forces were severely damaged in Iranian attacks across the Middle East.

This striking information from the Pentagon report was highlighted in an analysis by Al Jazeera, showing damage many times greater than what Washington had previously acknowledged.

Wreckage of Military Aircraft and Drones

According to the report, US forces lost at least 30 MQ-9 Reaper drones. In addition, F-15E fighter jets, advanced F-35A stealth fighters, A-10 ground attack aircraft, KC-135 refueling tankers, and several rescue and attack helicopters were damaged or destroyed. Even a 240 million dollar MQ-4C Triton drone and an AH-64 Apache helicopter were hit in Iranian attacks.

Casualties and Wounded Soldiers

The report confirms that at least 11 US military personnel were killed in action during the conflict, while 7 died in non combat accidents. Additionally, at least 417 US service members were wounded by June 30.

Military Bases and Diplomatic Infrastructure Damaged

Iranian missiles and drones struck over a hundred buildings at US military installations located in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Jordan.

Beyond military bases, US diplomatic offices in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE also suffered severe damage. Repair and reconstruction of these diplomatic buildings is estimated to cost around 184 million dollars. Of this, the US mission in Iraq alone faced more than 600 attacks and sustained damages of about 157 million dollars.

Weapons and Ammunition Shortage

The Pentagon report has also brought Washington’s internal weapons shortage to light. Although US President Mr. Donald Trump has claimed that large quantities of advanced weapons are being manufactured in the United States, the Pentagon report states that shortages of weapons and ammunition, along with supply bottlenecks, have emerged.

This enormous financial and military loss suffered by US forces is being viewed as a major blow to the global market and Middle East geopolitics.
