Bulu Blames Flatterer Journalists, Hybrid Leaders for Hasina’s Downfall

Mr. Barkat Ullah Bulu, former Member of Parliament for the Noakhali-3 (Begumganj) constituency and Vice Chairman of the BNP Central Executive Committee, has remarked that journalism serves as the mirror of society and represents a deeply humanitarian profession, leaving no scope to undermine its importance. He noted that objective news coverage drives genuine development across the nation, society, democracy, independence, and state sovereignty. However, he expressed regret that certain uneducated and opportunistic individuals entering the profession are conspiring to tarnish the image of mainstream journalism.

He made these remarks as the chief guest during an exchange of views with journalists at the Noakhali TV Journalists’ Forum office on Saturday evening. Addressing professional journalists, he said that while they must propel the country forward through accurate and objective reporting, they must also remain vocal against yellow journalism. Otherwise, the sacrifices and achievements earned through long years of hard work risk being undone by the misdeeds of a few unethical actors.

Highlighting the political context, the senior BNP leader further stated that the regime of fascist Ms. Sheikh Hasina from 1996 to 2001 was not particularly bad. However, her subsequent severe downfall was primarily driven by the misdeeds of overzealous flatterer journalists, hybrid Awami League leaders, and opportunistic businessmen.

The meeting at the Noakhali TV Journalists’ Forum office was also addressed by former member of Noakhali District BNP Ms. Shamima Barkat Lucky, Begumganj Upazila BNP Convener Mr. Kamakhya Chandra Das, Chowmuhani Municipal BNP Convener Mr. Zahir Uddin Harun, Working President of Noakhali TV Journalists’ Forum Mr. Tazul Islam Manik Bhuiyan, and Joint Secretary Mr. Yakub Nabi Imon, along with other local political and journalist leaders.
