CUFL Resumes Production Again

Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited (CUFL) has resumed operation after a 12-day shutdown caused by a technical glitch, which occurred just two days after it had restarted following a nearly six-month closure. Urea production at the state-owned factory recommenced around 3:00 PM yesterday.

According to factory sources, urea production originally resumed at 6:00 AM on September 15 after gas supplies were restored following the prolonged shutdown. Upon receiving gas, the ammonia plant was brought back online first, followed by a phased restart of the urea unit.

However, a fresh breakdown occurred just 46 hours into production, forcing a complete shutdown at around 4:00 AM on September 17 due to a technical glitch. Engineers and technical teams immediately initiated troubleshooting and repair operations. Following 12 days of continuous repair efforts, the facility successfully resumed operation on Tuesday afternoon.

Confirming the restart, Uttam Chowdhury, General Manager (Production) at CUFL, stated that the technical issues have been resolved and production was restarted around 3:00 PM on Tuesday without any further complications reported so far.
