Amjanatar Tareq Rahman’s Explosive Remarks on Murder of Hasina’s Escape Video Poster

A mystery surrounds the death of former Bangladesh Air Force member M Tahsif Souri, whose body was recently recovered from the Turag River. Md. Tareq Rahman, Member Secretary of the Amjanatar Dal, expressed deep anger and disclosed sensational details regarding the incident while addressing journalists upon returning to the country following a high-profile visit to Japan on Friday. Raising serious questions about the military officer’s dismissal from service, he demanded an impartial investigation into the matter. He highlighted the crucial impact of Mr. Tahsif’s social media posts during the country’s recent political transition.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Tareq emphasized Mr. Tahsif’s pivotal role in publishing the video of Sheikh Hasina fleeing the country on August 5. He noted that despite lingering confusion, Mr. Tahsif was the one who posted the footage on social media. Mr. Tareq stated that had the video not surfaced publicly, citizens would not have taken to the streets in such large numbers to drive the ultimate transition. He further remarked that Mr. Tahsif’s video effectively broke the active resistance mounted by the administration, Awami League, and Chhatra League on that afternoon.
Mr. Tareq strongly criticized the unjust circumstances surrounding Mr. Tahsif’s dismissal from service, alleging that he was falsely branded as an agent of India’s intelligence agency RAW. He questioned the controversial role of a daily newspaper in labeling him a RAW operative before his termination. Expressing his indignation over the situation, Mr. Tareq urged media personnel to demand answers directly from that newspaper’s office regarding why they committed such a despicable act against a patriotic military officer.
Holding the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, accountable, Mr. Tareq questioned why Mr. Tahsif was dismissed during Dr. Yunus’s tenure. He remarked, ‘Our country has now virtually become a country of Jamaat. They labeled this warrior friend of ours as an agent of India’s RAW and had him terminated from his job. Ask Dr. Yunus why he was dismissed during his term. Raise these questions in the appropriate forums, and only then will you understand that not everyone raising the ‘Delhi or Dhaka’ slogan is pro-Bangladesh.’
Furthermore, Mr. Tareq pointed out that neither Dr. Yunus nor the daily newspaper issued any statement in support of the Anti-Discrimination Movement during the critical moments of the July mass uprising, alleging that Dr. Yunus never visited the injured freedom fighters undergoing hospital treatment. He claimed that individuals who remained underground during the fascist regime are now ridiculing the bravery and sacrifices of street fighters. He concluded by demanding a thorough, impartial investigation into Mr. Tahsif’s death and the broader circumstances surrounding his military dismissal.
