Jet Fuel Price Hikes by Tk 6.32 Per Liter

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has adjusted the price of jet fuel (Jet A-1) used in aircraft for November and set a new price. Under the new price, the cost for domestic flights has gone up by Tk 6.32 per liter to Tk 189.03 per liter. In October, the price of this fuel was Tk 182.71 per liter.
For international flights of local and foreign airlines, the price per liter has been set at 1.1637 US dollars, excluding duty and VAT. The price for international flights has gone down by 0.0245 US dollars.
BERC shared this information in a press release on Thursday (5 November). The new price will come into effect from midnight tonight.
BERC said the price was set by looking at the average Platts rate in the international market from 5 October to 4 November.
BERC held a public hearing today on a proposal from Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Padma Oil Company Limited (POCL). The hearing was held under Sections 34(4) and 34(6) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003.
At the hearing, BERC set the price for November by looking at the detailed Platts rate of Jet A-1 fuel from 5 October to 4 November. It also considered the US dollar exchange rate used by BPC to settle its letters of credit (LC).
On 7 October, the price of jet fuel for domestic airlines was set at Tk 182.71 per liter. For international flights, the price per liter was 1.1882 US dollars.
