Two Army Personnel Killed During Training Practice in Hathazari

Two members of the Bangladesh Army were killed in an accident during a field firing exercise in Hathazari, Chattogram. An army officer was also seriously injured in the incident. The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) disclosed the information in a press release yesterday.
According to the ISPR, a field firing exercise was underway at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram yesterday. A sudden accident occurred while a tank was firing. Two army soldiers were killed and an officer was seriously injured in the incident.
The injured officer is being transferred to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka by helicopter for advanced treatment. The ISPR said necessary steps are underway to determine the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the Kabirhat (Noakhali) Upazila Correspondent reported that two army personnel were killed in a sudden accident while a tank was firing during a field firing exercise at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram. An army officer was seriously injured in the incident.
One of the deceased, Army personnel Abu Bakkar Siddiq (Piyas), was a resident of Mali Para village in Sundalpur Union of Kabirhat Upazila in Noakhali. He was the son of Abdul Wahab of Munshi Sardar Bari in the village. The ISPR confirmed the information in a press release yesterday.
According to his family, Abu Bakkar Siddiq was the youngest of four sisters and one brother. All four of his sisters were older than him. As the youngest member of the family, his sudden death has brought deep grief to his relatives. Family sources said Abu Bakkar Siddiq joined the Bangladesh Army as a soldier in 2017. His sudden death while serving the country has cast a shadow of grief over his family, relatives and local community.
The ISPR said the relevant authorities have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The death of Abu Bakkar Siddiq, a son of Kabirhat, has brought grief not only to his family and relatives but also to people across his home area of Kabirhat.
