Defense Advisor and Navy Chief Visit Two Chinese Naval Ships
Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A. K. M. Shamsul Islam and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mr. Khondkar Misbah ul Aseem visited the visiting Chinese Navy ships ‘Tangshan’ and ‘Daqing’. They visited the two ships anchored at the Chittagong Port on Saturday, September 19. The Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, senior officers of the Bangladesh Navy, and officials from the Embassy of China were present during the visit.
During the visit, the PM’s Defense Advisor toured various sections of the Chinese naval vessels. He was briefed on the modern naval equipment, security arrangements, and operational capabilities of the ships. He later held an exchange of views with the Commanding Officers, officers, and sailors of the two ships.
The discussion highlighted the existing friendly relations, mutual trust, professional knowledge sharing, and experience exchange between the navies of Bangladesh and China. Additionally, discussions were held on strengthening regional maritime cooperation, military training, and enhancing naval collaboration. Earlier, on September 17, three Chinese Navy ships, ‘Tangshan’, ‘Daqing’, and ‘Taihu’, arrived at Chittagong Port for a five-day goodwill visit to Bangladesh.
The visit has created an opportunity for professional knowledge and experience sharing between members of the two navies. Officials expect that such visits will further expand future cooperation in joint exercises, naval security, addressing maritime challenges, and various professional spheres. Upon departing Bangladesh, the Chinese Navy ships are scheduled to participate in a joint naval exercise known as PASSEX alongside the Bangladesh Navy.
