Coast Guard DG Pays Courtesy Call on President

The Director General of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Md. Moinul Hasan, paid a courtesy call on President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Bangabhaban on Sunday (September 20).

During the meeting, the President called on the Coast Guard to take more effective measures to maintain law and order and security in coastal areas, prevent drug trafficking, smuggling and human trafficking, protect fisheries and natural resources, safeguard the environment and prevent water pollution.

The President said the current government is firmly committed to developing the Coast Guard into a modern and efficient force to protect the country’s vast coastal areas and maritime boundaries. To this end, the government is working to modernise the force and ensure proper training for its members.
He also urged the Coast Guard to remain vigilant against illegal fishing in the country’s maritime waters.

During the meeting, the Coast Guard Director General briefed the President on the overall activities of the force and the progress in enhancing its capabilities, including the procurement of new patrol boats and modern rescue helicopters and the establishment of an aviation wing.

The Coast Guard Director General sought the President’s cooperation in carrying out the force’s responsibilities. The President assured him of his full cooperation in the development of the force. The President’s secretary and senior officials were present during the meeting.
