New furnace oil price set, effective from today

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has increased the price of furnace oil used in power plants and heavy industries by Tk11.92 per litre. As a result, the new price has been set at Tk108.78 per litre.
BERC announced the new price in a notice issued on Wednesday afternoon. According to the notice, the new price will take effect from midnight on Wednesday.
The notice said the price of furnace oil supplied by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has been adjusted based on the average Platts rate for furnace oil published from August 29 to September 28, 2026, the CIF price of imported crude oil during September, and the dollar exchange rate. The adjustment was made under the authority and responsibilities vested in BERC under Sections 22(b) and 34 of the BERC Act, 2003, in accordance with BERC’s order dated February 22.
It further said the order will take effect from midnight on September 30 and remain in force until further notice.
The price of furnace oil used in power plants and heavy industries was previously set at Tk96.86 per litre.
