No More Indian Dominance in Bangladesh: Biplobi Parishad

Khomeyni Ehsan, Convenor of the Jatiya Biplobi Parishad, has issued a stern warning against Indian dominance in Bangladesh, asserting that any infringement upon the nation’s sovereignty will meet strong public resistance. Speaking at a rally before the ‘Siege of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanding an end to Indian Hegemony’ outside the National Press Club on Thursday, Mr. Ehsan declared, ‘Indian hegemony in Bangladesh will no longer be tolerated’. A press release issued on Friday detailed his calls to mobilize the general public against foreign interference and preserve national independence.
Speakers at the demonstration strongly criticized Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma for repeatedly visiting various ministries, describing his actions as an insult to administrative independence. They argued that under the Vienna Convention, standard diplomatic conduct limits an envoy to formal diplomatic communication without interfering in host country affairs. Furthermore, leaders expressed deep resentment over the envoy repeatedly appearing alongside government officials instead of facilitating the extradition of fascists sheltered in India, including Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader, who face death sentences over the July genocide.
Addressing the broader political context, speakers cautioned Indian authorities against continuing tactics used during the previous political era. They noted that Bangladesh endured sixteen years of subservience under Sheikh Hasina’s regime, during which the Indian envoy effectively acted as a viceroy over the country’s governance. Emphasizing that those days are now over, they stated that the time has come to actively resist such diplomatic overreach and defend the country’s sovereign dignity.
The leaders concluded by reaffirming that the general public will unite to thwart any attempts to undermine national autonomy, regardless of friendly relations maintained by government ministers. Reinforcing that Bangladesh is an independent state rather than a foreign province, the event was attended by prominent figures including Dr. Nabil Ahmad, Joint Secretary of Jatiya Biplobi Parishad, Freedom Fighter Mir Shawkat Amin, Senior Vice Chairman of Islami Oikya Jote, and Maulana Abdul Karim, Secretary General of Islami Oikya Jote.
