President calls on Youth to Step Forward in Business and Entrepreneurship

President Mr. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on young people to step into business and trade. He made the call yesterday when a 21 member delegation led by Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) President Mr. Taskin Ahmed paid a courtesy visit to him at Bangabhaban. The President’s Press Secretary Mr. Md. Sarwar Alam shared this information.

The President also asked businesspeople to come forward to build the energy system of the country quickly. He said more young entrepreneurs need to join the race of new technologies like the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation and artificial intelligence. He also stressed cutting bank interest rates to grow business and trade.

The President spoke about low interest bank loans during the time of Shaheed President Mr. Ziaur Rahman, the declarer of independence of Bangladesh. He said those loans helped build industries and new entrepreneurs in backward areas like Rajshahi and the northern region. New factories and business firms grew up, and he called it a groundbreaking step.

During the visit, the DCCI team formally invited the President to attend the upcoming Bangladesh AI Business Summit 2026 as chief guest. The summit is organised by DCCI. The President accepted the invitation and promised to attend the event.

DCCI representatives said they are working to carry out the plan of Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman to lift the economy to 1 trillion dollars by 2034. They said they hope to work shoulder to shoulder with the government and solve the problems of business and trade within the next two years. They also placed several demands, problems and possibilities before the President.

The President said people have fought again and again, struggled and given their lives for democracy in the country. But after democracy was won, the country failed to give it a firm institutional shape. He said this happened because political parties misused the benefits of democracy.

He also said the country fell behind in the past because a system of plunder took hold, and business and trade came to a standstill. He said personal greed and lust destroyed the banking sector. The President then asked businesspeople to come forward for social development and welfare work.

The President’s Military Secretary, Secretary and Press Secretary, along with members of the DCCI delegation, were present during the visit.
