Dhaka Seeks Economic and Strategic Ties with Saudi Arabia: Humayun Kabir

Dhaka aims to build strong economic and strategic relations with Saudi Arabia while actively seeking expanded Saudi investment across key sectors, according to State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir. Speaking on Saturday at a seminar titled ‘From Manpower to Strategic Partnership: The New Alignment of Bangladesh-Saudi Arabia Relations’ at the Foreign Service Academy, he highlighted that Bangladesh has successfully established an investment-friendly environment for the Kingdom. He also expressed optimism that Bangladesh would secure a stronger position in the Saudi labor market by supplying highly skilled and well-trained manpower.

Highlighting regional peace and bilateral ties, Mr. Kabir noted that Bangladesh views the Saudi-led Mecca Agreement initiative positively and remains committed to playing an active role through global peacekeeping missions. ‘Bangladesh wishes to contribute to stability in the Middle East,’ the State Minister stated, emphasizing the special historic relationship between the two nations. He reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to advance together as they transform their bilateral cooperation from traditional manpower supply into a broader, dynamic strategic partnership.

Underscoring the broader diplomatic direction, the State Minister emphasized that Bangladesh is steadily moving toward self-reliance in its foreign policy operations and global engagements. He expressed firm confidence that PM Tarique Rahman’s upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia will further deepen the diplomatic and economic relationship between the two countries. By focusing on mutual investment, labor market upgrades, and regional security cooperation, both nations are setting the stage for a new era of mutually beneficial bilateral collaboration.
