DSE runs special cyber security programme throughout October

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has launched a special awareness programme throughout October to strengthen cyber security in the technology based activities of the capital market. It is the first time the exchange has taken such a step. The programme includes awareness campaigns, online training and a quiz competition for officials, employees and TREC holders. The exchange will also recognise those who take part successfully.

The DSE shared the information in a press release yesterday. It said the programme marks Cyber Security Awareness Month 2026. Its main aim is to raise awareness of cyber security among DSE officials, employees and TREC holders, and to warn them about online fraud. It also wants to encourage safe digital practices and build responsible behaviour among everyone who faces cyber risks.

As part of the programme, the DSE has put up festoons and banners on cyber security at its premises. It has also started using awareness desktop wallpapers on the computers of its officials and employees. These steps aim to help people spot and handle suspicious emails, harmful links and other possible cyber risks.

The DSE has also arranged online training for TREC holders. It is running the sessions on the Zoom platform in several groups. The training will give representatives of firms involved in trading and other technology based work a practical understanding of key cyber security issues.

The exchange has also organised an online quiz competition for TREC holders. The quiz will test their cyber security knowledge and raise their interest in the subject. The DSE will judge the answers of the participants and choose the winners.

To encourage participation, the DSE has made arrangements to recognise TREC holders who achieve notable success in the awareness activities. It will honour the best performers with recognition and certificates at its regular Meet and Greet event. Through this, the DSE wants to involve market stakeholders more actively in efforts to ensure cyber security.

Several DSE departments are carrying out the month long programme together. The IT Security Department is planning the programme, preparing awareness materials, running the training sessions and organising the quiz. The IT Infrastructure, Network, Public Relations and Publications departments and the Office of the Managing Director are helping as needed.

The DSE believes technical safeguards alone are not enough to keep the technology based activities of the capital market safe. Awareness and responsible behaviour from everyone involved are just as important. People can reduce security risks by spotting suspicious online activity, avoiding harmful links and staying alert to possible cyber risks.

The DSE says this joint effort over the month will strengthen cyber security awareness among the exchange and its stakeholders. It also expects the effort to help make the technology based activities of the capital market safer and more reliable.
