Question: I frequently travel to my permanent home in my village. My wife lives in a rented house in Dhaka, which I visit every Friday and Saturday. My workplace is 38 kilometres from Dhaka and 70 kilometres from my village home. The distance between my village home and my workplace is 120 kilometres.
I have to stay at my workplace for five consecutive days every week, where I also have rented accommodation. When I visit my Dhaka residence or village home, I usually stay for two to three days. In this situation, what are the rules for performing Qasr (shortened) prayers while travelling between these three places? If the distances between all three residences were greater, would I have to perform Qasr prayers at all three locations?
Answer: Under the circumstances described in the question, you are not considered a traveller (Musafir) when travelling between these locations or staying at any of them, regardless of the duration of your stay. You are considered a traveller only when travelling directly from your village home to your workplace.
If the distances between all three locations met the required distance for travel, you would be considered a traveller while travelling between them. However, your permanent home, your place of residence and the place where your wife lives are all considered places where you are a resident (Muqim).
