The Prophet’s (PBUH) Unique Approach to Establishing Social Security and Peace – 2

The Messenger of Allah SWT. (PBUH) did not come to the world merely to introduce a religion. He was a pioneer of peace and security for all humanity. Islam places special importance on protecting human life and property. It provides several guidelines for ensuring security, peace and social order.
Regarding the protection of human life, Allah (SWT) says: “And do not kill the soul which Allah (SWT) has forbidden, except by right. And whoever is killed unjustly—We have given his heir authority, but let him not exceed limits in [the matter of] taking life. Indeed, he has been supported [by the law].” (Surah Al-Isra, verse 33)
Regarding property, Allah (SWT) says: “And do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 188) Without justice, peace and order in society break down, leading to disorder and conflict. The Holy Quran states: “O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice.” (Surah An-Nisa, verse 135)
Arguments and disputes disrupt peace and order and can lead to fights and clashes. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “The most hated person in the sight of Allah is the one who is most quarrelsome.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, 2457)
Reconciliation can resolve disputes within families and society, as well as conflicts between states, helping to establish peace and stability. The Holy Quran states: “And whoever pardons and makes reconciliation, his reward is [due] from Allah.” (Surah Ash-Shura, verse 40)
Family Harmony and Mutual Responsibilities
Peace and order within the family help children develop and contribute significantly to stability and progress in society and the state. Parents play a central role in family life. Maintaining family harmony requires children to obey their parents in lawful matters and fulfil their duties towards them. Parents, in turn, must also fulfil their responsibilities towards their children.
Regarding children’s duties towards their parents, Allah (SWT) says: “And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], ‘uff,’ and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.” (Surah Al-Isra, verse 23)
Regarding parents’ responsibilities towards their children, Allah (SWT) says: “O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones.” (Surah At-Tahrim, verse 6)
Women’s Rights and Economic Security
Islam grants women rights intended to ensure their security and well-being. These include inheritance rights to their parents’ property, the freedom to earn money and the right to spend and manage their own wealth.
Allah (SWT) says: “For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned.” (Surah An-Nisa, verse 32) Elsewhere, the Quran states: “And due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 228)
Maintaining Harmony Among Communities
Since Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent as a mercy and a source of goodness for all the worlds, Islam places great importance on maintaining harmony among different communities. Allah (SWT) says: “And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah (SWT), lest they insult Allah (SWT) in enmity without knowledge.” (Surah Al-An’am, verse 108) This teaching emphasises respect for the beliefs of others and discourages actions that may provoke hostility or undermine peaceful coexistence.
