Prime Minister’s Tokyo visit will strengthen strategic partnership

Japan expects that Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman’s visit to Tokyo will make the strategic partnership between the two countries even stronger. The Japanese Foreign Ministry shared this hope in a statement.
The statement says Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman will stay in Japan on an official visit from Monday to Thursday. During this time, Prime Minister Ms. Sanae Takaichi will hold a meeting and a lunch with Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman. Japan and Bangladesh are important regional partners that believe in values and principles such as freedom, democracy and the rule of law. The statement says Japan hopes the visit will strengthen their strategic partnership and increase coordination to carry out the updated “Free and Open Indo Pacific” (FOIP).
Meanwhile, diplomatic sources in Dhaka say talks are going on over signing eight memorandums of understanding ahead of the Prime Minister’s Japan visit. The talks cover agriculture, fisheries, human resource development, skills building, civil aviation, trade, environment protection and modernising the local government system. But only four to five of these memorandums may be signed.
