Roads and waterways blocked in two districts to protest attack in Sajek

Chhatra Janata Sangram Parishad is holding a half day blockade of roads and waterways in Khagrachhari and Rangamati. The blockade protests the attack, baton charge and vandalism of homes and shops against the blockaders in Sajek. The program ran from morning until 12 noon yesterday in the two districts. The organization said it also called the blockade to show support for the demands of the people of Sajek.

Picketers were seen burning tires in different places from dawn. Police added extra forces at key points of the town to avoid disorder. Ambulances and vehicles carrying patients, hearses, fire service vehicles, vehicles supplying emergency medicine and vehicles carrying journalists were kept outside the blockade.

Chhatra Janata Sangram Parishad President Mr. Ushatan Chakma asked for help to make the program a success. He asked democratic and progressive organizations of the Chattogram Hill Tracts for support. He also asked the vehicle owner and worker organizations of Khagrachhari and Rangamati to cooperate.
