‘Waste Human’ at Cox’s Bazar Beach Rally Against Plastic Pollution

An unusual initiative has been launched to raise awareness against plastic pollution at the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar sea beach, featuring a colorful anti-plastic rally organized on the beach sands. On Wednesday morning, jointly organized by several environmental organizations, the rally saw the participation of a few volunteers wearing giant, monstrous costumes made from plastic and various waste materials. These unconventional waste human symbolic characters wandered across the entire beach, drawing the attention of domestic and foreign tourists as well as the general public.

According to environmentalists, the giant costumes made from discarded plastics and waste materials symbolically depict the severity of plastic pollution in the marine environment and nature. Through this, a strong message was conveyed to the general public to reduce the use of plastic to prevent environmental pollution around the beach and to dispose of plastic or polythene in designated places instead of littering everywhere.

To keep Cox’s Bazar sea beach, one of the world’s longest and most popular tourist destinations, clean and eco-friendly, effective plastic waste management is extremely vital. However, plastic bottles, chip packets, and various one-time items left behind by tourists are not only ruining the exquisite beauty of the beach but also posing a severe threat to marine biodiversity and the environment.

Tourists visiting the beach stated that the presence of individuals wearing innovative costumes made from plastic and electronic-waste-like items made them think deeply. Such creative awareness-raising activities for environmental protection deserve praise. The concerned parties believe that the collective awareness of all and the responsible behavior of tourists can keep Cox’s Bazar sea beach evergreen and plastic-free.
