People will not accept sacrificing national interest over Matarbari deep sea port

Leader of the Opposition and Jamaat e Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman warned that people will not accept any move that harms national interest, security and geographical sovereignty over the Matarbari deep sea port. He wrote this in a post on his verified Facebook page the day before yesterday morning. He demanded transparency from the government on the port project and the country’s strategic security. He said the government must make clear what is really happening.

In the post, he said there is no room to accept any step that gives up national interest, security and geographical sovereignty. He said people will not accept it, and the matter must be made clear to them. He pointed to past facilities given under names such as transit and corridor. He wrote that even though Bangladesh’s interest was cited, the country got no real benefit.

He stressed that sovereignty and security come first, whether the relationship is with China, Japan or any friendly country. He said the main duty to protect the nation’s interest and security lies with the present government. He said people will not tolerate any failure or compromise by the government.
