Questions Remain Over Law Enforcement and Intelligence Agencies’ Roles in Tahsif’s Death: Jamaat-e-Islami

Bangladesh Jamaat e Islami has raised questions about the role of law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies in the death of former Air Force Flight Lieutenant Tahsif Sauri. The party demanded a fair investigation to find the truth, arrest those involved and give them exemplary punishment. Jamaat Secretary General Mr. Mia Golam Parwar made the demands in a statement the day before yesterday. He also expressed concern and anger over the incident.
In the statement, Mr. Parwar said protecting a citizen’s life is the basic duty of the state. He said no one can escape responsibility by neglecting state duties. He said the state must make sure Tahsif Sauri’s family is not denied justice. He said law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies have failed badly and been careless in this case.
He said the killing of a former military officer in this way raises serious questions about these agencies, and there is no way to avoid responsibility. He also said the intelligence agencies that cannot protect the life of a former Air Force officer are trying to mislead the nation. According to him, they spread absurd, fake and imaginary information about opposition leaders, and this is laughable.
Mr. Parwar demanded a quick, impartial and transparent investigation. He wants it to find the real cause of death, the circumstances and whether anyone was involved. He also called for legal action against any officer or agency found guilty of negligence or crime.
