Pakistan-Bangladesh Ties Open New Doors for Industrial and Economic Cooperation

Pakistan and Bangladesh have held discussions to strengthen bilateral economic ties by creating opportunities in industrial cooperation, export-oriented growth, clean energy, technology transfer, and investment. On Monday, a high-level meeting took place between the PM’s Adviser on Industries and Production of Pakistan, Haroon Akhtar Khan, and a Bangladeshi delegation led by the Minister of Finance and Planning, Rashid Al Mahmud Titumir.

Welcoming the delegation, Adviser Haroon Akhtar Khan stated that Pakistan and Bangladesh share strong historical and cultural ties. He noted that the current government has adopted a policy of replacing bureaucratic red tape with a ‘red carpet’ welcome for investors to streamline the investment environment. Highlighting the Pakistan government’s green and sustainable technology initiatives, he shared that implementation is underway for a new ‘New Energy Vehicle Policy’ and a ‘Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Policy’ for local production of lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries.

Additionally, Pakistan has achieved significant progress in expanding charging infrastructure and solar technology. He remarked that immense opportunities exist for cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan in joint ventures and technology transfer across these emerging sectors, electric vehicles (EVs), and industrial areas. On the other hand, Bangladesh’s Finance and Planning Minister Rashid Al Mahmud Titumir conveyed warm greetings to the people and government of Pakistan, describing the relationship between the two nations as fraternal.

During the meeting, he shared Bangladesh’s strategic progress in addressing various economic challenges and maintaining macroeconomic stability. He noted that strengthening industrial and commercial ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh would unlock new economic potential for both countries. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further consolidate bilateral relations and foster a mutually beneficial partnership.
