General Holiday Declared for Garment Factories on November 7

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), the apex trade body of the country’s apparel industry, has declared a general holiday for all garment factories across the country on November 7 in observance of National Revolution and Solidarity Day. The organization shared this information in a press release issued on Thursday.

Earlier, on October 21, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification announcing the decision to declare a general holiday on November 7 every year, marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day. Deputy Secretary Waliuzzaman signed the notification from the Rule-6 branch of the ministry. Consequently, November 7 has officially been included in the government’s list of general holidays.

According to the notification, in pursuance of a decision made at a cabinet meeting, a general holiday will be observed annually on November 7 on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day. This government decision ensures that the day is observed under the purview of official government holidays every year.

On October 5, a cabinet meeting decided to observe November 7 as National Revolution and Solidarity Day. Simultaneously, it was decided to include the day under Category ‘A’ of the circular regarding the observance of national and international days. As part of implementing that cabinet decision, the Ministry of Public Administration subsequently issued the gazette notification.
