Storm Warning Issued for 10 Regions, Including Dhaka

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thunderstorms accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds of 45 to 60 km/h in 10 districts, including Dhaka. River ports in the affected areas have been advised to hoist Local Warning Signal No. 1.
According to the inland river ports forecast issued until 1:00 am on Thursday, August 6, the weather system is expected to affect Pabna, Tangail, Dhaka, Faridpur, Barisal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar. The BMD said the gusty or squally winds are likely to blow from the south or southeast, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms. River ports in the affected areas have been advised to remain alert under Local Warning Signal No. 1.
In its 24-hour nationwide forecast, the Met Office said light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are likely in most areas of Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. Many places in Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions are also expected to receive rainfall during the period, with some areas likely to experience moderate to heavy or very heavy rainfall. The Met Office added that day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country over the next 24 hours.
