Emperor Jahangir: The Reign of Transformation-3

Emperor Jahangir was an influential ruler known for his knowledge, wisdom, kindness and intelligence. After ascending the throne, he introduced several measures for public welfare, promoted those who supported him and forgave many of his opponents.

Unlike his father Akbar, Jahangir repealed laws he deemed harmful to the people and introduced 12 laws based on mercy and generosity. He also established a system allowing ordinary subjects to seek justice directly from him, including through a golden chain of bells extending from the palace to the Yamuna River.

Despite his compassion and generosity toward his subjects, Jahangir’s character showed a striking contrast between kindness and severity. He was compassionate and gentle, yet extremely harsh in suppressing enemies and punishing criminals.
