Yusuf Steps Up Preparations for National Team

Former Birmingham City Under-21 player Yusuf Ahmed is preparing to join the Bangladesh national football team. The UK-born midfielder could be included in the national team training camp during the September international window.

Yusuf is currently without a club, but multiple sources said the process of bringing him into the national team is underway. He recently shared a photo on his Instagram story from the Bangladesh High Commission in London, reportedly after completing fingerprinting or other formalities for a Bangladeshi e-passport.

Another UK-born footballer, Adam Abbas, has already joined Bangladesh’s Under-20 team and is getting a chance to prove himself at youth international level. The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is seeking to expand its talent pool by bringing in eligible players from the diaspora. UK-born prospect Farhan Ali Wahid is also reportedly on the BFF’s radar.
