Two Years Needed to Resolve Gas Crisis: Commerce Minister

Bangladesh will need about two years to overcome its gas crisis through the development of necessary infrastructure, Commerce Minister Mr. Khandaker Abdul Muqtadir has said. Speaking to journalists after a workshop in Sylhet on Saturday, Mr. Muqtadir said the challenges posed by the energy shortage are clear and that the country must allow the time required to build the infrastructure needed to resolve the crisis.
He said the government is addressing the emergency situation by adopting approaches beyond conventional thinking. The minister also revealed that efforts are underway to import LNG from Malaysia to help normalize the country’s energy situation.
