Daily Inqilab Editor Mr. A.M.M. Bahauddin has called on journalists to play a constructive role in national development while remaining uncompromising against any conspiracy targeting the country’s interests.
Speaking at a post-election discussion and review meeting of journalists at the Rural Development Academy in Bogura on Saturday, Mr. Bahauddin said Daily Inqilab has an important responsibility in protecting the country’s independence, sovereignty and development.
“Team Inqilab will act as uncompromising soldiers of the pen to resist any conspiracy by domestic or foreign forces against the country’s interests,” he said, adding that Bangladesh can advance globally by utilizing its vast human and natural resources and embracing sustainable technology.
Mr. Bahauddin also stressed the need for accurate reporting and warned of conspiracies operating both inside and outside the country. He said journalists should help identify solutions and turn challenges into opportunities through responsible reporting.
On the sidelines of the event, leaders of the Bogura district unit of Bangladesh Jamiatul Modarresin paid a courtesy call on Mr. Bahauddin, who also serves as president of the organization.
During the meeting, Education Minister Mr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon joined by phone and spoke with the madrasa leaders. He said Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman is continuing efforts to improve madrasa education alongside general education and praised madrasa teachers for supporting initiatives to ensure cheating-free examinations.
“The government is committed to fulfilling your expectations,” Mr. Milon said, expressing hope that madrasa teachers would continue their efforts to ensure quality education.
The minister’s remarks and his praise for Mr. Bahauddin’s leadership were warmly welcomed by the teachers, who offered prayers for both the editor and the education minister.
