Question: Is there any problem if a pre-recorded adhan is played over a microphone at a market-based prayer mosque? It is worth noting that the recording is played over the microphone after the adhan is given at the local mosque.
Answer: Playing the adhan over a microphone does not fulfill the Sunnah of giving the adhan. Even if a recorded adhan is played through a loudspeaker in this way, a person should give the adhan before the congregational prayer begins. This will fulfill the Sunnah of giving the adhan. The congregation can then perform the prayer after the iqamah. Moreover, no one should take responsibility for abandoning the Sunnah and introducing a religious innovation by relying only on a recorded adhan played through a loudspeaker.
The answer was given by Allama Mufti Ubaidur Rahman Khan Nadvi.
