Pakistan president congratulates President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir

Pakistan President Mr Asif Ali Zardari has congratulated Mr Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as President of Bangladesh. Mr Zardari expressed confidence that Bangladesh would continue to progress and serve the welfare of its people under his leadership.

Mr Zardari said Pakistan and Bangladesh share close bonds based on their common history, religion and cultural ties. He welcomed the positive momentum in bilateral relations and expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would further expand in areas of mutual interest.He said, he looked forward to working with President Mr Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to further strengthen Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and promote greater exchanges and cooperation between the two peoples.

The Pakistani president also invited President Mr Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient time, expressing confidence that the visit would provide an opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties and deepen cooperation. Mr Zardari wished President Mr Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir success in his duties and peace, progress and prosperity for the people of Bangladesh.
