BIDA, BEZA, and PPPA Merge to Form ‘Invest Bangladesh’

The Invest Bangladesh Act, 2026, which formally unites the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), and the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA), went into effect on August 20, according to a gazette notification issued by the Bangladeshi government. The announcement, which was signed by ATM Abdus Sattar, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, on the President’s instruction, satisfies investors’ long-standing need for a simplified single-entry gateway. The statutory authority would operate under its new name, with its headquarters located in Dhaka. To support both local and international investments, it may build liaison centers abroad and branch offices around the country.
Invest Bangladesh seeks to remove operational bottlenecks, collaborate with important ministries, and actively promote local investment prospects by acting as a unified, dependable single point of contact. Seven board members and a chairman acting as chief executive will oversee daily operations to guarantee efficient management. All current assets, ongoing contracts, obligations, and employees from the three previous agencies move straight under the single authority upon the merger’s legal enactment, creating the groundwork for an ecosystem that is more open, effective, and investor-friendly.
