Question: My husband has money in his pocket. Sometimes, when he is sleeping or not at home, I take money from his pocket and spend it. The question is, would it be a sin for a wife to take money without telling her husband?
Answer: Taking a husband’s money without his permission is considered a sin, as money other than what he has given to his wife remains his personal property. The wife cannot even touch it without his consent. If she says no, it will be a sin. However, if she takes it for an urgent need, and she is firmly convinced that her husband will consent to it, or if she takes it for the needs of the family, there is no problem in taking it on behalf of her husband. Even if she takes it only for her own needs, she must ask for his consent later. This is a matter of agreement and understanding between the husband and wife.
