18 AC Buses Launched at UIU for Students’ Safe Transportation

United International University (UIU) has launched 18 air-conditioned buses to make transportation for students safer, more comfortable and time-efficient. The bus service was inaugurated at the UIU campus on Wednesday morning (September 2).

UIU Board of Trustees Chairman Hasan Mahmud Raja was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. United Group Chairman and Managing Director and UIU Board of Trustees Joint General Secretary Moinuddin Hasan Rashid was present as the special guest. UIU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Abul Kashem Mia presided over the event.
The AC buses have been introduced on six important routes in Dhaka to help students reach campus on time and make their daily commute easier and safer. Students travelling from distant areas will particularly benefit from the more comfortable and secure transportation service. In his speech, Hasan Mahmud Raja said UIU has always given equal importance to students’ transportation and other essential services alongside academic activities. He said the new AC transport service would contribute positively to students’ regular class attendance, punctuality and overall university life. He also advised students to develop themselves as good human beings alongside their academic studies.

Special guest Moinuddin Hasan Rashid said United Group has always been playing a responsible role in ensuring a modern educational environment for UIU students. He said the new service would provide students with safe and comfortable transportation while also saving their time. He added that United Group would continue to support the university through such initiatives to help establish UIU as an international-standard, knowledge-based institution.

In his presidential speech, Professor Dr Md Abul Kashem Mia said ensuring students’ safe and comfortable campus life, alongside quality education, is an important responsibility of the university. He said the new bus service would help students focus on their classes while making their daily commute easier, safer and more comfortable. He said such initiatives would continue in the future, with students’ welfare and convenience receiving the highest priority.

The university authorities said UIU has been providing free shuttle services and subsidized transportation on various routes since moving to its permanent campus in 2018. The launch of 18 new AC buses is part of the university’s continued efforts to further improve transportation facilities for students.
Heads of various departments, teachers, officials, students and distinguished guests attended the ceremony.
