President Urges Dedicated Police Service for Law and Order

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on the police force to preserve law and order and reduce crime nationwide by performing their duties with integrity, commitment, and professionalism. He made this call on Thursday during an official call at Bangabhaban from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir. The President stated at the meeting that police must be fair and kind-hearted to innocent persons while being harsh in their repression of criminals. He gave the police officers instructions to establish the rule of law by acting fast and responsibly.

The President gave the police chief instructions to effectively address cybercrimes, such as misinformation, fake news, and rumor mongering, as well as extortion, mugging, and drug distribution. Additionally, he stressed the necessity to take the proper steps to ensure the safety of women and children, emphasizing the significance of regularly updating the public and conducting broad awareness campaigns on these issues. According to the President, the current administration is working to protect the people’s basic human and democratic rights. He gave the Bangladesh Police instructions to keep up their effective efforts to stop extrajudicial killings, harassment of the people, and false cases.

The President was informed by the IGP on several projects aimed at upgrading and digitizing the force’s operations as well as raising morale. When he asked for the President’s general assistance in doing his duties, the President assured him of all support. During the meeting, the President’s Press Secretary and Military Secretary were also present.
