‘His Excellency’ and ‘Honourable’ to Be Dropped Before Names of President and Prime Minister

The government has decided that honorifics such as “His Excellency (mohamanyo)” and “Honourable (manonio)” will no longer be used before the names or titles of the President, Prime Minister, ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers in official communications, documents and summaries.

The Cabinet Division issued a circular to this effect on Wednesday, September 9.

According to the circular, the government has decided that the terms “His Excellency (mohamanyo)” and “Honourable (manonio)” will no longer be written before the titles of the President, Prime Minister, ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers in state affairs and official documents.

All ministries, divisions and their subordinate offices have been requested to implement the decision immediately.

The order is effective from Wednesday.
