Current Government Has Paid Off $2.05 Billion in Hasina Govt’s Debt: Chief Whip

The current government has paid off $2.05 billion in loans left behind by the ousted Ms. Sheikh Hasina administration, according to the Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad, Mr. Nurul Islam Moni. He stated that the government cleared this $2.05 billion debt over the past five months.
The Chief Whip shared this information during a press conference on Friday at the Jatiya Sangsad Media Center. The press conference was organized regarding the third session of the national parliament, which concluded on Thursday. During the third session of parliament, 6 bills were passed, 124 notices were discussed, and 1,678 questions were addressed, according to Chief Whip Mr. Nurul Islam Moni.
The Chief Whip noted that the Prevention and Suppression of Enforced Disappearance Act and the Property Transfer Act were passed during this session, which are aimed at protecting the general public and elderly parents. However, the Chief Whip termed the opposition party’s resistance to the passage of these laws as unfortunate.
