Let Us Now Rebuild the State: PM

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on patriotic citizens, businesspeople, young entrepreneurs, researchers and people from all sections of society to come forward to build a prosperous and desired Bangladesh. He sought everyone’s cooperation in the country’s development and the rebuilding of the state.
Calling especially on the country’s youth, the Prime Minister said, “If the young people of a country want to change the country, it is possible. Our young generation showed the whole world on August 5, 2024, that they can bring about change. The young generation started that change from there.”

The Prime Minister made the call while inaugurating the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 in Dhaka on Saturday morning. Seeking cooperation from the government, Tarique Prime Minister said, “Everyone’s cooperation is needed to run the country. So, let us all work together to build such a state, so that we can succeed in building the state we desire.”

Praising the speakers at the event for their guidance, the Prime Minister said the presentations and remarks made by the previous speakers, especially Dr Muhammad Anisuzzaman Talukder, on innovation had largely set the course of action for the coming days. He said, “If we can gradually implement these courses of action, only then will we be able to reach our set goals.”

Mentioning the role of innovators and businesspeople in the country’s overall progress, the Prime Minister said, “Considering the present needs of the state and the government, everyone has to come forward with innovative ideas. The government will always stand by entrepreneurs and researchers with all-out support.”

Senior government officials, prominent businesspeople, local and foreign innovators, and researchers from different fields attended the event.

Science and Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Rehan Asif Asad, Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman on the Ministry of Science and Technology M Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, BUET Professor Dr Muhammad Anisuzzaman Talukder, and Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, among others, addressed the event.

Call to Rebuild the State

Later, while inaugurating a three-month nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign at the South Plaza of the National Parliament building, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, “So, my appeal to them is, let us now rebuild the state and the country. Let us try to solve our dengue problem over the next three months. Perhaps we will not be able to achieve 100 percent, but at least we can achieve 80 percent.”

The programme has been launched to raise public awareness about dengue prevention, destroy Aedes mosquito breeding grounds, strengthen cleanliness activities, and coordinate government, private and social initiatives.

The campaign began yesterday and will continue across the country until December 12. Alongside Dhaka-based initiatives, awareness and cleanliness activities are being carried out simultaneously at district and upazila levels across the country.

The Prime Minister said, “As far as I know, there are around 2.3 million Scouts in Bangladesh, while the number of BNCC members is 22,000. Besides primary schools and madrasas, there are around 15 million students in high schools, madrasas, colleges and universities across the country. And there are 25 million students in primary schools and Ebtedayi madrasas.”

He said almost all districts were also connected to the event online. Addressing Girl Guides, BNCC, Scouts, volunteers and others, the Prime Minister said, “I want one help from all of you. That is, we have to build this country. We have all gathered here today. We have gathered with one goal. That is the goal of building the country.” The Prime Minister everyone knows how dengue spreads.

He said, “Scrap materials, papers and various other things are left lying in different places. Plastic and earthen items can also be seen lying around. Clean water accumulates there, and Aedes mosquitoes that carry dengue breed there. So, if we all make an effort together, we can change this situation.”

He said everyone present at the field drinks water and, if each person throws even one item on the ground, perhaps no one would object immediately. But the waste would gradually accumulate and turn into garbage.

He said, “From there, germs and diseases will develop. You or your loved ones may become sick. So, let us keep ourselves healthy. Let us keep our families healthy. Let us keep our society healthy. Let us try to keep our country healthy. This work is not very difficult.”

He said people might face some inconvenience initially, but if everyone spends one hour every week cleaning their homes, schools, colleges or institutions, the desired change could be brought about quickly. He also said, “When we travel on the roads, we see many people carelessly throwing garbage here and there. We have to make them aware. We have to discourage those who litter and those who create waste.”

The Prime Minister said, “So, there is only one message. Work, work and work. And cleanliness, cleanliness and cleanliness must be our main goal for the coming days.”

Welcoming the participants at the inaugural ceremony was Bir Muktijoddha Md Abdus Salam, convener of the committee for implementing the nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign and administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr Abdul Moin Khan, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain, Information and Broadcasting Minister Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr M A Muhit, and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam also spoke at the event.

State ministers from various ministries, advisers to the Prime Minister, Chief Secretary A B M Abdus Sattar, senior officials from government and private offices, city corporation officials and cleaners, students, members of various voluntary organisations and journalists were also present.
Officials from district and upazila administrations across the country joined the inauguration ceremony online.
