Three Chinese Navy Ships Arrive in Chattogram on Goodwill Visit
Three Chinese Navy ships: Thang Shan, Da Qing and Tai Hu, arrived at Chattogram Port today, Thursday, on a five-day goodwill visit.
Upon their arrival at Chattogram Port, the Chief Staff Officer, on behalf of the Commander Chattogram Naval Area, welcomed the officers and sailors of the visiting ships.
A well-dressed Bangladesh Navy band performed music in accordance with traditional customs. Senior officials from the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, Chinese nationals and senior local officials of the Bangladesh Navy were also present to welcome the ships. Earlier, when the visiting vessels entered Bangladesh’s territorial waters, Bangladesh Navy ship BNS Umar Farooq received them.
During their stay in Bangladesh, delegations comprising the commanding officers of the visiting ships and the Chinese military attaché in Bangladesh will pay courtesy calls on the Commander Chattogram Naval Area, Commander Bangladesh Navy Fleet and Chairman of the Chattogram Port Authority. The officers and sailors of the visiting ships will visit Bangladesh Navy ships and bases, as well as various tourist and historical sites in Chattogram.
Bangladesh Navy personnel will also visit the Chinese ships. The visit will provide naval personnel from both countries with opportunities to observe each other’s activities and professional practices and exchange views. The goodwill visit is expected to facilitate professional exchanges between the officers and sailors of the two navies, create opportunities for future training and mutual cooperation, and further strengthen bilateral relations.
The visiting ships are scheduled to leave Bangladesh’s territorial waters on September 21, 2026, after completing the goodwill visit.
