Quality Training System Will Boost Youth Acceptance In Job Market: PM

Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman gave a key directive on training programs. He ordered all ministries to bring their training activities under one structure. He wants a uniform syllabus for training and certification nationwide.

He gave this instruction while chairing a meeting on Saturday. The meeting was the third governing body session of the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA). It took place at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka.

Mr. K M Nazmul Haque later shared this information with reporters. He serves as Assistant Press Secretary to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister explained why this initiative matters right now.

He said Bangladesh needs skilled workers for both local and global job markets. He said uniform and internationally recognized training will help youth build real skills. He added that this system will boost their acceptance in job markets everywhere.

Mr. Rahman said NSDA plays a vital role in building skilled human resources. He said the authority helps meet demand in both domestic and global labor markets. He called it an important platform for expanding Bangladesh’s skilled workforce abroad.

He stressed that skill development among youth remains highly important. He noted many ministries currently run separate training programs. He said poor coordination between these programs limits their real impact.

He explained that young people often fail to gain proper recognition. He said this happens both nationally and internationally despite holding certificates. Mr. Rahman then instructed the NSDA governing body to act quickly.

He asked them to form a small committee soon. This committee will create necessary policies within a short time. He wants all skills training brought under one coordinated structure. He again emphasized the need for a single training syllabus and certification system.

Officials briefed the Prime Minister on NSDA’s administrative structure at the meeting. They also discussed its staffing and current functions. The meeting covered national skills development policy and strategy documents.

Discussions also covered building skilled manpower for labor market needs. Officials analyzed sector based skill demands during the session. They discussed short term, medium term, and long term action plans. Attendees also discussed training quality, certification, and mutual recognition of certificates.

Several senior officials attended the meeting alongside the Prime Minister. These included Finance Minister Mr. Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. Mr. Md. Ismail Zabiullah, Adviser to the Public Administration Ministry, also attended. Industries Minister Mr. Khandaker Abdul Muktadir was present as well.

Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon joined the session too. Mr. Ariful Haque Chowdhury attended in his dual role. He serves as Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment. He also serves as Minister for Labor and Employment.

Mr. Mahdi Amin attended as well. He serves as Adviser to the Prime Minister and Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office. Other officials also joined the meeting. These included State Minister for Public Administration Mr. Md. Abdul Bari and State Minister for Youth and Sports Mr. Md. Aminul Haque.

The Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Mr. A B M Abdus Sattar attended too. Mr. Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun joined as well. He serves as Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority. Professor Dr. S M Abdul Awal, Chief Coordinator for SDG Affairs, also attended.

The Executive Chairman of NSDA attended the session as well. Various ministry secretaries and other senior officials rounded out the attendee list.
