Iran Ready to Counter ‘Enemy Attack’: Army Chief Issues Counter-Threat to Trump
Iran’s top military official has warned that the country’s armed forces are “fully prepared, alert and equipped” to repel any new attack or aggression by the United States and Israel.
According to Iran’s state media, Army Chief Major General Amir Hatami made the remarks in response to the situation. He said, “We will not hesitate for a moment to defend Iran’s independence, security and military sovereignty.” He also noted that the Iranian military had successfully defended the country’s existence and territorial integrity against enemy aggression in the past.
The military conflict in the Middle East, which has continued for nearly seven months, remains in a state of stalemate. However, concerns have grown across the region over fears that the United States could launch a new military attack on Iran.
Earlier, former US President Donald Trump said he was taking a “decisive position” on the Iran issue. The options reportedly under consideration include “defeating or destroying” Iran, increasing economic pressure, or reaching a peace agreement.
Trump has also indicated that he is interested in meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session in New York this week.
According to international analysts, the possibility of a military attack on one hand and indications of diplomatic talks on the other have made the tense situation between Iran and the United States even more complex.
