Rizvi Blames Deep Conspiracy for Recent Arson and Bomb Attacks
Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Political Adviser to the Prime Minister, has declared recent arson attacks and bomb explosions on buses and CNG auto-rickshaws as part of a deep-rooted conspiracy against Bangladesh. Speaking at a protest rally in Shahbagh, Dhaka, on Thursday, he emphasized, ‘Those setting fires and hurling bombs are enemies of Bangladesh’s independence and democracy,’ while urging citizens to remain vigilant and noting that the streets belong to no single entity.
The rally was organized by the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal following a massive protest procession from the Central Shaheed Minar to Shahbagh, condemning planned terrorism aimed at destabilizing the nation. Mr. Rizvi highlighted that the spontaneous participation of young people demonstrates that the younger generation stands firmly with nationalistic forces. Referring to media reports, he disclosed that arrested perpetrators confessed to executing arson attacks under direct instructions and financial support received via phone calls originating from a neighboring country, sending photos back as proof.
Mr. Rizvi noted that orchestrating planned terrorism from a phone number in a neighboring nation exposes the true depth of the conspiracy against Bangladesh. He reassured the public that the government led by Mr. Tarique Rahman consistently prioritizes national interests and public welfare above all else. He called upon party activists and general citizens alike to maintain strict alertness to resist any further attempts by conspirators seeking to undermine state stability and destroy public property.
Addressing the gathering, Minister for Water Resources Md. Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee reflected on the past 17 years, stating that the public had suffered through severe corruption and misrule under the fascist regime. He affirmed, ‘Under the leadership of PM Tarique Rahman, the government is working to advance national development while actively confronting conspirators on the streets.’ He reiterated the administration’s firm resolve to safeguard the nation’s democratic trajectory against any internal or external destabilization efforts.
BNP Student Affairs Secretary Mr. Rakibul Islam Bakul remarked that while the current government works to rebuild the national economy, a vested group linked to the ousted fascist regime is attempting to obstruct progress through fear and arson. Chaired by Chhatra Dal President Mr. Rakibul Islam Rakib, the rally brought together key student leaders and activists who pledged to defend Bangladesh’s sovereignty, maintain peace on the streets, and thwart all destructive plots against the nation’s democratic future.
