BGB Blocks BSF’s Push In Attempt at Mahespur Border
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) blocked an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push an unidentified person into Bangladesh through the Mahespur border in Jhenaidah. The person now remains inside Indian territory near the barbed wire fence.
The incident happened on Sunday, September 27, at 10:45 a.m. It occurred near border pillar 60/98 R, through a gate in the area covered by the Khoshalpur Border Outpost in Mahespur upazila.
Lieutenant Colonel Rafiqul Alam, commanding officer of the 58 BGB Mahespur Battalion, said members of India’s 194 BSF Battalion from Ramnagar camp tried to push an unidentified man into Bangladesh. BGB patrol members at Khoshalpur Border Outpost spotted the attempt and quickly took position at the border. They stopped the man from entering Bangladesh.
Because of the BGB’s quick action, the BSF’s push in attempt failed. The man then remained inside Indian territory near the barbed wire fence. BGB said it has informed the 194 BSF Battalion about the incident.
A press release signed by Munshi Imdadur Rahman, assistant director of the Mahespur Battalion (58 BGB), added that BGB remains on high alert to protect the border, prevent push in attempts and illegal entry, and maintain peace and order in the border area. BGB said its patrols and operations continue to prevent any form of unauthorized entry across the border.
