Bangladesh-China Ties Forgerd by Historic Bond: Yao Wen

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has said that Bangladesh and China are bound by historic ties and called for expanding and strengthening cooperation between the two countries. He made the remarks at an event organised by the Bangladesh-China Friendship Association at a hotel in the capital on Sunday. Yao Wen said Bangladesh and China are geographically and politically close countries with a long history of friendly relations. He said there is significant potential to expand cooperation between China’s Yunnan province and Bangladesh in transport, agriculture, trade, investment, culture, tourism and education.

“Expanding mutual cooperation in these areas will further strengthen people-to-people connectivity between the two countries and create an important foundation for implementing the Bangladesh-China-Myanmar Economic Corridor,” he said. The Chinese ambassador said various social and business organisations have played an important role in promoting friendly relations between Bangladesh and China for decades. He also noted that visits by high-level delegations in recent years have given new momentum to bilateral cooperation.

He said the Chinese Embassy would continue to serve as a bridge for promoting mutual development, connectivity and cooperation between the two countries. “China will continue its strong cooperation to achieve shared prosperity by working shoulder to shoulder with various sectors of Bangladesh,” Yao Wen said. Chao Junmin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China’s Yunnan Provincial Committee, attended the event as the chief guest. Advocate Nazmul Haque Nannu, adviser to the BNP chairperson and president of the Bangladesh-China Friendship Association, chaired the event.
