Bangladesh Embassy Urges Caution for Tourists Traveling to Nepal

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu has issued a critical travel advisory for its citizens in Nepal, urging tourists and trekkers to exercise extreme caution. Heavy rainfall, flash floods, and severe landslides have severely impacted several regions across the country. Travelers are strongly advised to avoid all non-essential trips to affected zones until weather conditions stabilize and overall ground conditions improve across the network.

High-risk destinations specifically highlighted include Pisang, Chame, and Manang, alongside nearby popular tourist spots such as Pokhara, Mustang, and Jomsom. Torrential downpours and unexpected snowfall have triggered landslides, breaking critical road infrastructure across Gandaki Province. The rugged mountain terrain, combined with heavily disrupted transport links, has created unpredictable blockades and made ongoing emergency operations exceptionally challenging for local authorities.

To ensure personal safety, Bangladeshi travelers are urged to verify all route and weather updates before embarking on sightseeing or mountaineering in high-risk zones, including Annapurna, Mustang, and Manaslu. The embassy emphasized that travelers must strictly adhere to safety guidelines and advisories issued by the Nepalese government. Official monitoring remains ongoing in close coordination with local authorities to issue further emergency updates as needed.

Adding to the severe crisis, a devastating avalanche recently struck the Himlung Himal region within the Nar Phu area of Manang district. The disaster has left at least 14 Nepalese nationals missing on the 7,126-meter peak. Extreme atmospheric turbulence and persistent adverse weather have grounded rescue helicopters, severely hampering search operations and delaying critical aerial assistance to the affected alpine altitude.

Highlighting the gravity of the ground situation, Bibhuti Chand Thakur, founder of Himalayan Holidays Trekking, stated that rescue teams have been continuously coordinating with government agencies and private operators to conduct recovery efforts. Search operations remain heavily constrained by the severe environment, while official agencies continue monitoring weather movements to mobilize emergency teams as soon as flight conditions safely permit.
