Malaysia Ranks Second on the World’s Strongest Passport List, Where Does Bangladesh Stand?
Malaysia, a country in Southeast Asia, has achieved a big success in international travel access and global acceptance. In The Passport Index Global Ranking 2026, it has earned the status of the world’s second strongest passport. Malaysia shares the second place (silver tier) with Singapore in this list.
On Monday (28 September), the Malaysian Immigration Department confirmed this milestone on its social media. The agency said the achievement came from the wide acceptance of the Malaysian passport and the strong ties the country holds in the international arena. Last year, Malaysia stood in third place on this list.
According to the latest data from The Passport Index, Malaysian passport holders enjoy the following travel access. They can enter 175 countries and territories in total. They can get a visa on arrival in 46 countries and enter 129 countries without a visa. Only 23 countries need prior permission or a visa.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) holds the top spot on the list. Spain comes third, right after Malaysia and Singapore. Sixteen countries, including Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Norway, share the fourth place.
The Malaysian Immigration Department believes this achievement will make travel easier and more convenient for its citizens on the world stage. Bangladesh stands at 92nd place. India and Pakistan stand at 71st and 96th place. Afghanistan (99th) is at the bottom of the list.
