Foreign Diplomats Praise Festive Durga Puja Celebrations in Bangladesh
Durga Puja Being Celebrated in a Festive Atmosphere in Bangladesh: Dinesh Trivedi

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has said that Sharadiya Durga Puja is being celebrated in a festive and cordial atmosphere across Bangladesh. He stressed that coexistence among people of all communities is essential to fostering mutual harmony.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after visiting a Durga Puja mandap in Banani, the capital, on Monday.
“This year, Sharadiya Durga Puja is being celebrated in Bangladesh in a colourful, festive and cordial atmosphere,” Dinesh Trivedi said.
He also said that participating in Durga Puja celebrations in Bangladesh for the first time had allowed him to discover cultural similarities between the two countries.
“Coexistence among everyone is essential to building harmony. I have not come to the puja as a high commissioner; I have come as a member of the family to share in the joy of the festival,” he said.
During the visit, he offered anjali, or ritual prayers, wishing peace, prosperity and well-being for the country and its people. Trivedi expressed hope that the Durga Puja celebrations in Bangladesh would conclude in a festive atmosphere.
Meanwhile, US Ambassador Christensen has been impressed by her experience of celebrating Durga Puja in Bangladesh for the first time. The warm welcome in Old Dhaka, the rhythmic beats of traditional dhak drums and the dazzlingly decorated puja mandaps added a special dimension to her experience.
The US Embassy in Dhaka released a video message on Monday marking Durga Puja, highlighting the ambassador’s experience of the celebrations. She extended Sharadiya greetings to members of Bangladesh’s Hindu community and everyone else in the country.
Earlier, Nepalese Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari attended a programme at the Banani Durga Puja mandap in Dhaka as a special guest and delivered a speech. His address in Bengali drew particular attention from those present.
