Families of Martyred Army Personnel Meet Prime Minister

Families of the two army personnel who were killed in a shell explosion during tank firing at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. During the meeting, the prime minister handed over cheques for financial assistance to the families. He also assured them that the government and the army would always stand by the families of the martyred personnel.
The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Tuesday morning (September 15, 2026). Prime Minister Tarique Rahman spoke with the family members of the martyred army personnel and expressed his deep condolences to them.
Prime Minister’s wife Dr Zubaida Rahman, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman and senior army officers were present.
The prime minister said, “Our army personnel have sacrificed their lives while performing their duties for the country. They have been martyred for the country. The nation will remember their sacrifice with deep respect.”
Addressing the bereaved family members, Tarique Rahman said, “We are with you during this time of grief and will remain by your side. The government and the army will always stand by your families. Along with providing necessary assistance, the government will also fulfil its responsibility to look after the families of the martyred army personnel.”
Later, the prime minister handed over cheques for financial assistance to the families of the two martyred army personnel.
It was also announced that the army would take an initiative to build a house for each family at the permanent addresses of the martyred personnel. Arrangements would also be made to provide jobs to their wives and monthly allowances for their children.
On September 9, two army personnel were martyred in a shell explosion during tank firing at the Hathazari Field Firing Range. They were Soldier (Operator) Abu Bakar Siddique and Soldier (Gunner) Md Tasnim Rifayat.
At the meeting with the prime minister, Abu Bakar Siddique’s family was represented by his wife Suraiya Akter Juthi, daughter Fatema Siddika, father Abdul Wahab and mother Parvin Akter.
Md Tasnim Rifayat’s family was represented by his wife Mst Fahmida Afrin, daughter Rafsa Tasnim Ifra and father Md Asadul Haque.
