Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman has said that our soldiers gave their lives while carrying out their duty for the country. They became martyrs for the nation, and the nation will remember this sacrifice with deep respect. “In this time of grief, we are with you and will remain with you,” he said. “The government and the army will always stand by your families.” Alongside providing necessary support, the government will also fulfill its responsibility in caring for the families of the martyred soldiers. The meeting took place yesterday, Tuesday morning, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon. During the meeting, the Prime Minister spoke with the family members of the martyred soldiers and expressed his deep condolences to them. Family members of the two soldiers martyred in a shell explosion during tank-firing exercises at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram met with Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman. During the meeting, the Prime Minister handed them cheques for financial assistance. He also assured them that the government and the army would always stand by the families of the martyred soldiers. This information was provided by the Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary, Mr. Hasan Shiplu. Present alongside the Prime Minister at the meeting were his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman, and senior army officials. The Prime Minister said that our soldiers gave their lives while carrying out their duty for the country.

Addressing the grieving family members, Mr. Tarique Rahman said, “In this time of grief, we are with you and will remain with you. The government and the army will always stand by your families.” Alongside providing necessary support, the government will also fulfill its responsibility in caring for the families of the martyred soldiers. It was also announced that, on behalf of the army, an initiative would be taken to build a house for each of the martyred soldiers’ families at their permanent address. At the same time, it was announced that arrangements would be made for their wives’ employment and a monthly allowance for their children.
It may be noted that on September 9, two soldiers were martyred in a shell explosion during tank-firing exercises at the Hathazari Field Firing Range. They were Sepoy (Operator) Mr. Abu Bakar Siddique and Sepoy (Gunner) Mr. Md. Tasnim Rifayat. Attending the meeting with the Prime Minister on behalf of Mr. Abu Bakar Siddique’s family were his wife, Ms. Suraiya Akter Jhuti; his infant daughter, Fatema Siddika; his father, Mr. Abdul Wahab; and his mother, Ms. Parvin Akter. On behalf of Mr. Md. Tasnim Rifayat’s family were his wife, Ms. Mosammat Fahmida Afrin; his infant daughter, Rafsa Tasnim Ifra; and his father, Mr. Md. Asadul Haque.
