Julong Group Eyes Investment in Bangladesh’s Shipbuilding Sector

China-based Julong Group has expressed a strong interest in making a major investment in Bangladesh’s shipbuilding industry. Leveraging the country’s strategic geographical location and skilled workforce, the group plans to build state-of-the-art vessels and ships aimed at both domestic use and export to international markets.
The intention was conveyed by Mr. Ben Wang, Chairman of Julong Group, during a meeting with State Minister for Shipping and the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry, Mr. Rajib Ahsan, at the Ministry’s conference room. The discussion focused on constructing modern vessels and advancing Bangladesh’s maritime transportation sector. Highlighting the group’s vision, Mr. Ben Wang stated that Julong Group aims to utilize Bangladesh’s advantageous geography and skilled labor to produce various types of modern ships. Beyond catering to the country’s internal demands, the enterprise intends to export these vessels worldwide.
Welcoming the foreign investment initiative, State Minister Mr. Rajib Ahsan affirmed that Bangladesh has fostered a business-friendly environment for international investors. He described China’s interest in the shipbuilding sector as timely and strategic. He assured that the government will extend all necessary policy, administrative, and logistical support to realize the ambition of building international-standard ships for global export.
Industry insiders believe that if successfully implemented, this initiative will generate significant employment opportunities in the maritime and shipbuilding sectors, while unlocking new potential for earning foreign currency. Senior officials from the Ministry of Shipping were also present at the meeting.
